SCHOOLKIDS will be made to run a mile every day if the SNP wins the election.

The party’s manifesto will include a vow to make the exercise drills part of the curriculum for all ages.

It comes after the Daily Mile scheme was credited with transforming primary pupils’ health. First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said: “The Daily Mile is an excellent initiative that has got children being out and active every day.

It’s miles better in Dallas!

LOCAL villagers are striding ahead with their own version of a national initiative.

Dallas Primary School launched the Community Mile in January and family members of all ages joined a pupil-led Sport Relief event on Friday, March 18 to raise money and celebrate how far they have walked so far.

“Our Sport Relief event encouraged even more folk to join us regularly on our daily mile,” said acting head teacher Mairi Grant.

Disabled Leatherhead children inspire with their ‚mile a day‘

In response to recent health and childhood obesity statistics, new research from Start-rite Shoes has revealed a highly positive attitude to health, exercise and sport amongst children aged 7-11 which improves as they move through primary school.

The research gave children the chance to reply to recent reports that one-in-five¹ is leaving primary school obese. It revealed that messages around healthy living are cutting through to the little people who count, with 86 per cent believing it’s important to do sport and exercise.
